Role Overview
The Regional Portfolio Risk Manager (China/APAC) is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning the regional risk posture, with a focus on portfolio performance, key risk indicators, and cross-functional alignment.
This role sits within the Portfolio Risk Intelligence pillar and plays a critical part in driving, interpreting, and communicating regional risk trends, with direct impact on Risk Blocked Volume (RBV) and broader portfolio KPIs.
The position requires strong independent judgment, deep domain expertise, and the ability to influence decisions across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the regional portfolio risk view for China/APAC, with focus on risk performance, key KPIs, and trend analysis across fraud and AML domains
- Monitor, analyze, and explain regional performance across key KRIs, including:
- Risk Blocked Volume (RBV)
- Fraud trends and risk drivers
- Account- and payment-level indicators
- Identify and assess emerging regional risk patterns, typologies, and behavioral shifts
- Translate complex data into clear, structured insights and actionable recommendations
- Partner with Signals and Controls teams to ensure effective detection and mitigation of regional risks
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert and point of contact for:
- Business / GTM
- Product
- Compliance and Operations
- Contribute to risk narrative and reporting for senior stakeholders, including regional and global forums
Scope & Impact
- Operates with high independence and limited day-to-day direction
- Influences cross-functional decision-making across product, compliance, and business teams
- Acts as the regional authority on risk trends and performance
- Plays a key role in bridging regional dynamics with global portfolio risk strategy
- Direct impact on key Compliance KPIs, particularly RBV and portfolio-level risk trends
Required Experience
- 7+ years of experience in:
- fraud risk, AML, or payments risk management
- portfolio-level risk analysis or monitoring environments
- Proven experience in:
- owning or deeply influencing risk metrics / KPIs
- working with large-scale data and risk trends across portfolios or regions
- identifying and translating complex patterns into structured insights
- Demonstrated ability to:
- operate independently in ambiguous environments
- prioritize across competing risk signals and business needs
- influence stakeholders without direct authority
Stakeholder & Communication Expectations
- Experience presenting to senior internal stakeholders (Director / VP level or equivalent)
- Strong ability to simplify complex risk topics into clear narratives
- Proven track record working across:
- cross-functional teams (Product, Compliance, Operations)
- regional or global structures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in or covering China/APAC markets
- Knowledge of regional regulatory and risk environments
- Experience in fintech, payments, or e-commerce ecosystems
- Familiarity with KRI frameworks and portfolio-level monitoring
