Role summary:

We are seeking a Payment Operations Manager to join our growing Online Payments team in New York City to lead key initiatives across our global payment ecosystem. In this role, you’ll own the design, execution, and optimization of payment operations, ensuring our systems, processes, and partnerships run efficiently, securely, and at scale.

Daily activities include, but are not limited to, leading and executing key payment operations initiatives, managing cross-functional projects, overseeing daily payment workflows, and ensuring smooth collaboration between internal teams, global stakeholders, and third-party partners. This role involves monitoring payment performance, troubleshooting operational issues, identifying process improvements, and ensuring compliance across all payment systems, card schemes, and alternative payment solutions.

This position requires strong initiative, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, analytical thinking, and a commitment to operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in payment operations within the fintech or online payments industry, a deep understanding of payment systems and technologies, and the ability to manage complex projects end-to-end in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience with B2B payments and card scheme operations is a strong advantage.

What you'll do:

  • Strategic Ownership: Lead and execute payment operations initiatives that align with company goals and drive efficiency across systems and processes.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a connector between departments, ensuring smooth collaboration and alignment on payment-related projects and priorities.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide strategic direction and oversight of daily payment operations, ensuring processes run smoothly across various payment methods and systems. Monitor performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements to enhance reliability, scalability, and compliance.
  • Project Execution: Manage and deliver strategic projects end-to-end, from planning and stakeholder alignment to execution and post-launch optimization.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily payment operations, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve workflows to support scale and reliability.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, and recommend actionable improvements.

Who you are:

  • 3+ years of experience in the online/mobile payments industry or a relevant fintech company – a must!
  • Experience with payment operations in a dynamic environment; B2B payments experience is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with card schemes and card payment terminology.
  • Strong understanding of payment systems, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to combine business understanding, compliance needs, and payment operations mechanisms to solve day-to-day and strategic challenges.
  • Capable of leading and managing complex initiatives or processes end-to-end while building interfaces within many groups, both inside and outside the organization.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage low-level process planning and execution.
  • Strong analytical and operational skills, enthusiastic and diligent.
  • Highly motivated and passionate, with strong engagement skills and a sense of responsibility to take ownership of your work

In accordance with New York City Law, below is the annual base salary range for this position. Actual annual base salary is based on, but not limited to: experience, education, professional licenses, location and business needs. The position is eligible for health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, 401k plan, paid-time off, and sick (and where applicable safe) leave. This position is also eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.

The annual base salary range for this position is
$125,000$148,000 USD
