Vacation & annual leave in Jordan

Like Saudi Arabia, employees are entitled to annual leave in Jordan. The number of days of annual leave depends on the recruitment period of the employee:

  • Employees who have an employment tenure of less than 5 years are entitled to 14 days of annual leave. 
  • However, if the employment tenure is more than 5 years, the annual leave entitlement is 21 days.

If required, the sick leave in Jordan can be extended for 14 more days with full pay if the employee is hospitalized. However, if the employee is not hospitalized but needs treatment and rest, they are sanctioned 14 days of leave with full or half pay. Authentic medical reports are required in both cases. 

Maternity leave in Jordan

Female employees are entitled to 10 weeks (70 days) of fully-paid maternity leave in Jordan. This includes a rest period before and after delivery. Maternity leave after the delivery should not be less than 6 weeks. 

Paternity leave in Jordan

New fathers are entitled to paternity leave in Jordan for 3 days.

Childcare leave

In Jordan, a mother can take 12 months of unpaid childcare leave. The mother takes this leave to bring up her children.

The concept of wedding leave does not apply to employees in Jordan.
