During the first 15 days, the employer provides sick pay to the employee at the rate of 70% of the employee’s average salary. Employees can use this in the same calendar year.
When it comes to sickness benefits, employees are entitled to the benefit for 1 year, starting from the 16th day of the illness. The National Health Insurance Fund of Hungary (NEAK) pays 60% to the employee from the 16th day.
Maternity leave in Hungary
Maternity leave in Hungary is for 24 weeks. Female employees in the country can take leave for four weeks before childbirth. The remaining 20 weeks of leave can be taken after delivery.
Paternity leave in Hungary
New fathers are entitled to paternity leave in Hungary. The duration of such leave is 10 days in the country.

After the second birthday, till the child turns 3, the parent may receive another child care benefit (GYES), a fixed monthly payment from the state.
Compassionate leave
2 days of compassionate leave are also granted to the employees in Hungary.

There is no mandated law for wedding leave in Hungary.
